Tasty Spain look final value

It's a sad weekend folks!
We have reached the end of Euro 2008, no more football for over a month but we can look forward to the busy Transfer window in July and we should see where Ronaldo ends up.
On to Sunday's final and based on the two semi-finals you have to go with Spain - as we all know in this game, it doesn't always work out that way. Spain are a general 5/4 shot with the Germans the 5/2 underdogs and it's 9/4 the draw.
We tipped Spain from the start and if they oblige on Sunday then I could afford a wee break there with my winnings - do I lay off and back the Germans? NO CHANCE!
I think Spain will have too much for this German defence and fully expect Casillas to lift the trophy at around 9.45 Sunday night.
Hope bloggers lumped on Spain (-1) yesterday at 7/2 - we think the same for the final, Other nice punts Cesc Fabregas to get Man Of The Match 9/1 - (he has to start), Spain to win 3-1 (18/1), and at last Fernando Torres to open the scoring at 5/1 (he has to)

Competition

We have teamed up with Sean Grahams to giveaway 2 x £50 bets for the final on Sunday.
We have made it easier - all you have to do is predict the FIRST GOALSCORER in the FINAL on Sunday evening.
To enter just send a email to puntersguide@irelandclick.com
and you will entered in tonight's scorecast draw and Sunday's Final draw - surely someone will pick a winner!
One sweat Paddy Thompson has his free fifty quid bet on Spain outright!

COMING SOON

The Punters Guide will be launching a brand NEW WEBSITE at the end of August will some tasty new formats and sponsors.

Tiocfaidh ar la!!

No seriously, Spain were very impressive last night and, like I said, they easily kept a clean sheet and brushed aside the Russians. Arshavin was poor but again, like I said, one man cannot carry a team.

I actually fancy the Germans to triumph and I think it could be decided on penalties again. Spain will miss Villa big time although Guiza looked good last night. I think that Spanish boss needs his head looked at for not starting Fabregas, if he doesn't start the final then he should be sacked!!

I'm gonna go with a 1-1 draw after 90mins with no goals in extra time and Germany to win on penalties!

Spurs have signed Heurelho "the octopus" Gomes (like I mentioned a few days ago) and it looks like Paul Robinson is on his way out.

It looks like a good bit of business by Spurs as they could effectively be getting a world class keeper for around £2m cash. Lee Young-Pyo is heading back to PSV as part of the £7m deal and Spurs should get £5m for Robinson (possibly from Villa) so it is a shrewd move by Ramos, Levy and Co.

worls class keeper my arse....why would he be heading for spurs a middle of the table or should i say bottom half of the table team.If he was world class he would be going to a "big" team obviously

Anonymous said...

Time will tell if he's world class.

Ramos' jig-saw is slowly taking shape at Spurs. Expect another few big named signings in July.

Bentley? Capel? Fabiano? Milito? De Jong? Podolski? Jarque? Diarra?

mid table?

Anonymous said...

mid table yes.
actually bottom half of the table last season of you check.

its common knowledge that any player that goes to spurs is going there because the big boys of europe do not want them and if they do well tyhey hope some of the big boys of european football will come in for them.

big players want to play in the champions league

11th last season although at least we have silverware, unlike Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea.

Season before that they were 5th, season before that they were 5th missing out on a CL spot by 1 point.

Juande Ramos took over at Spurs when they were in dire starits and he has done a fantastic job with a team that he inherited. This season is when Ramos will be really judged and I can GUARANTEE you that they will not finish in the bottom half this season. Top 6 will be a good result with a few decent cup runs (hopefully win 1 or 2). Anything more than that is a bonus.

diarra?

arsenal and chelsea reject...

need i say more.spurs want him.

i rest my case

spurs are a selling club and always will be until they get into the champions league which will probably never happen if last season is anything to go by.

are arsenal chelsea and liverpool playing in the champions league next season?

are spurs?

Selling club they may be but they do it very well. Carrick bought for £2m and then sold for £18.75m. Berbatov bought for £10.9m and offers are to start at £25m.

Good business to me!!

By the way, here's FIFA's official list of the worlds top 10 goalkeepers for the 07/08 season. Who's that guy at No. 7???

1 Casillas (Spa)
2 Van Der Sar (Hol)
3 Cech (Cze)
4 Buffon (Ita)
5 Cesar (Bra)
6 Friedel (USA)
7 Gomes (Bra)
8 Boruc (Pol)
9 James (Eng)
10 Coupet (Fra

may be good business selling your best players but the fact of the matter is no matter how much money spurs have or make by selling its best players they still are not playing champions league football and finished bottom half of the league last season.

the stats dont lie.

Big Brother?? Are you serious?? You need to get out more pal. I'd rather watch an Arsene Wenger interview!!

That list was compiled by FIFA using stats from the 07/08 season, and as you planks keep on saying "the stats don't lie".

Hey, leave old Wenger alone now - he didn't do you any harm!

To all the Gooner fans, check this out. From Sky Sports AFTER Adebayor's press conference.....LMFAO.......

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has given conflicting messages over his future as he pledged to stay with the club at midday, before just over an hour later, in an interview with Sky Sports News, conceding he could yet still sign for Milan.

The assembled press must have thought Adebayor was set for a stay at Emirates Stadium after his press conference, but when quizzed later on whether there was any chance of a move to Milan he replied: "Nothing has been decided yet. We will decide next week."

Togo international Adebayor has been the subject of fevered speculation all summer, with Milan having declared their interest in bringing him to Italy.

Arsenal have remained tight-lipped on the player's future but now Adebayor has come out to comment on his situation in North London; albeit with sentiments that will likely confuse all parties.

On Thursday, super agent Vincenzo Morabito stated that the forward was '80 per cent certain' of joining Milan but this prediction appeared to be somewhat ill-founded, at least when Adebayor spoke at a press conference.

He said: "I have three more years with Arsenal, I have a good team there, I have a good contract.

"The most important thing is to keep enjoying myself. Of course (I am staying) I have three more years.

United front

"You can see people changing clubs because of money, because they want a change of atmosphere or to get their names in the big leagues. I just play football to enjoy myself. I play because I love it.

"We all have the same ideas and we all want to achieve something. We have a good boss which is Arsene Wenger, he tries to bring this atmosphere to the dressing room where we feel like brothers and like family.

"Those are the reasons that give us a chance to play the football we play. We play good football, now we look forward to winning trophies."

Ambiguity

Adebayor's comments would likely have been well received in the capital but later, in a one-on-one interview with Sky Sports, the player was considerably more ambiguous with regards his future.

"I am a footballer, I have a three-year contract at Arsenal but as you know, a lot of clubs are interested in me," he told Sky Sports News.

"At the moment we are just going to sit down and talk and decide what to do.

"Nothing has been decided yet. We will decide next week."
